He was a graduate of UNC at Chapel Hill, earning an undergrad-
uate degree in business in 1960. After graduating college Edd K.
was in the army reserves and spent his first three years out work-
ing in sales. In 1963, he started his own business as a home builder
and developer. Over the next 46 years, he built over 3,000 homes in
Raleigh and the greater Wake County area, and has been recog-
nized as Wake County's Home Builder of the Year, North Carolina
Home Builders Association Builder of the Year, and received a
Parade of Homes Lifetime Achievement Award. Edd K. served as
the Wake County President for the Home Builders Association
("HBA") in 1970. He was one of the founding members of the HBA
Wake County Spike Club and served as president in 1980, 1981,
and 1993. He served two years on the Raleigh City Planning and

never missing an opportunity to bring his camera. He made
several contributions to the NC Museum of Natural History to aid
in their mission of wildlife education and conservation.
Edd K. was an avid hunter and conservationist. He enjoyed
sharing the outdoors and all that it has to offer with his family and
friends. He was known often to carry his Bible with him to the
woods as he reflected in scripture and God's Word. He prayed
daily and smiled often. His life was one of celebration and that is
how he lived. His favorite verse was John 3:16 "For God so loved
the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever be-
lieves in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life."
